    Actually, it was initially called investment casting due to the fact that substantial amounts of time and money were invested in making the molds for the parts. Carving out a steel block to make a mold cavity is NOT cheap by any means. A metal mold was used to make the wax positives at the beginning, right? That was where the major “investment” was made there. After that, it was the “lost wax” molding method being used as the wax positive was “lost” when it was melted. Savvy?
