@TimothyADonaghue Hahaha loved this comment!
Ignorance is not a sin, but to be willfully ignorant is pathetic.
To be willfully ignorant and arrogant is disgraceful.
Fuck off Letterman.
Dave should have done this interview using his “dumb guy voice.” It wouldn’t have made him look bad.
This 11 minute interview sums up the debate in the USA: a right-winger explaining the problem and the solution, and left-winger saying he doesn’t understand but still thinks the right-winger is wrong. How you can confidently say something is wrong if you don’t understand it proves you’re closed-minded.
Lol lots of dumb liberals in the audience
Rand lied
“I think he’s wrong, but I don’t know why.”
My goodness. hahaha
@47Theroseofsharon Yes I agree with him we should not be borrowing money from our countries, I don’t think we should be in wars, and we all should pay the same tax no matter what your income status. Again I don’t agree with his whole message but some of it I understand like the items I just mentioned.
@RealTime88
I will tell you he is a very thoughtful man. He looks at the whole picture of our nation. How we can make things better, etc.
I disagree with Rand on some issues but seeing this interview and one he did on PBS The News Hour around the same time. He’s not a bad guy and the fact that he is now friends with Senator Franken that is pretty damn cool for me.
@evilgummieshark As an independent with some libertarian and progressive values, you are right.
Get em Rand!
Too old to question your old beliefs Letterman?
@HOWYOUDOIN884 haha selfish? he wants everone to be able to keep more of their own money…
Letterman interrupts a bit too much to let him explain properly lol.
@larzovic84 Calling Letterman a fucking knob is an insult to knobs everywhere.
Ignorant Letterman? I’m glad I saw this interview because now I know Rand Paul is just a selfish politician. Aside from his bad politics, he wore a suit coat and tie with 1980′s jeans — he has no business making important political decisions. And his hair reminds me of Beaver Cleaver. He’s just not that smart.
Private schools spend way less than 20K per pupil and have much better results, of course, they are usually picky about which students they enroll, so I don’t know how much better the results would be if all education was handled by the private sector, but surely trying that would be a better plan than repeating the same old mistakes over and over and over…..
Letterman is hostile from the start. He doesn’t understand the definition of insanity. Why keep doing the same thing we have done, i.e., throwing more money at education, concentrating more power at the federal level, and expect a different result. How about we try something really radical and crazy, like following the limits placed by the Constitution?
@wesleywillisrip I agree and so do Rand and Ron Paul. Also, have to have government protect us from monopolies and some other important stuff but not to tell us what toilettes to buy or what to put into our bodies or what we can say or how to think.
@Lunartechno I don’t know; I think the fact that he’s on Lettermen (as opposed to CNN) complicates things somewhat. Communications is a bitch, after all.
I agree, tho, that Dave lofted (unwittingly!!!) several juicy softballs but you always feel like you could have hit your home run ball a lot harder.
It would be better if when Dave didn’t know something, he kept it to himself. It would have been more appropriate for him to say: “You’re contradicting my biases and everything you say is true and I’m fairly reasonable (but there is no way I COULD ACTUALLY BE WRONG) so there must be some mysterious detail that we’re missing which would sway the argument back my way.
Gotta love Dave, tho as long as he stays !!!THE FUC$( AWAY FROM POLITICS!!!
@2020starman He may been sarcastic on that one. He can be right when you have no idea if he is or not. This is the first and only interview where Rand Paul didn’t scare the hell out of me.
Teachers, firemen, and cops are not federal workers.
“I think he’s wrong. I just can’t tell you why.” — an honest expression of the true faith of liberals. A liberal believes that if spending $20,000 per pupil per year does not result in the education of the children of single mother households in Washington D.C. that spending $40,000 per pupil per year might somehow do the trick.
Teachers, firemen, and cops are not federal workers.
