The Swarm: Thorpe Park 2012- LC12

An accurate recreation of the track forThorpe’s new coaster, planned for 2012. I used the B&M floorless coaster design in No Limits for this project, as the software doesn’t currently have a wing rider coaster design. LC12 is the project name of Thorpe Park’s unique new rollercoaster, planned to open in 2012. The ride will represent the largest investment to any single attraction in a British theme park, at a whopping £18 million. The ride type will feature trains that are four times the width of traditional coaster trains. This means that riders will be positioned on either side of the track, as shown in the POV in the video. This will create an amazing sense of freedom and flight with no track above or below you. The theme of the ride will be based around a crash site with abandoned buildings, ruins, overturned lorries, crashed aeroplanes and a helicopter as part of the ride’s scenic elements.

  10. @DMxJamie It’s the scenery that makes the ride. Sure it looks boring there but if you’ve got burning planes and meteor craters and fire etc around where you plummet then it’s a different story :L

  11. @rctwik Well Thorpe Park has done very well. America and Japan I know have bigger rides but England’s not a big country. Thorpe Park has done very well with their park and who are you to say they’re not going to? Maybe one day they will. 205 ft, and 100ft with a over 90 degree drop isn’t exactly kids stuff now is it.

  12. @ScarletGlaceon I mean thorpe park is the biggest theme park in the UK, many places outside the UK have hyper coasters and inverting coasters exceeding 100ft

I never knew about that! :O

  25. I am on the team building the ride and I can tell you it is not like this!. The track plans are very different and the actual carriage is completely wrong here. If you go to the thorpe park website and scroll over rides , and click on the swarm at the right hand side it will take you to the website where the ride is shown and trust me this is not the ride. Thorpe Park have told all builders to remain confidential and we are not even allowed to tell our families what the ride is. So thats all.
