   hey, so is the person in this video a market-marker ( flow trader, sales trader) or a prop trader?

   it seems as though he’s being the counterparty to a buyside client or perhaps another sellside bank, just to build his inventory as he might sell these to a possible client down the road. But he cares about the risk of this inventory ( the israeli paper) because he’s trying to protect his PnL.

   Is this true? Or this is guy actually a prop trader/ principals trader?

   Hungarian government debt you say? Thank god they forced those Greeks bond holders to accept 50% on the dollar. Free market capitalism you say? Hedge funds are the last bastion of free market capitalism, in the capital markets.  The banks rely on the titty milk of their sovereign governments.

    As for example NYSE. Each stock exchange has its own platforms. For example I have installed MICEX terminal on independent computer to trade on organized market. Our sales has quik terminals to execute little amounts on MICEX. But on the OTC market deal can be execute even by bloomberg chat or by phone call and then trader by themself insert deal details into the ticket and cack office execute it.

    Actually i don’t think that we can compare meta trader with these platforms. Meta trader, quik, rox are platforms for retail and all trades are going through the broker, so the counterparty is a broker. In these systems the counterparty is either the other bank, corporation or may be an interdealer broker. So you even can’t install such platforms for retail. For example Reuters dealing include special keyboard for quik quotes. If you want BARX, you bank should have line for BarCap.

    @SanchXavi Right now i’m learning with MT4 demo, and what i want or what i’m trying to ask you is what platform is the best? you look like you know a lot of this!!! What platform pro use? I mean like the NYSE on floor brokers use? you know.
    I know that many people going for how has the best rates and all that but what i’m looking for is the best of the best if you can help me i will appreaciate you!!!

    Sorry perhaps i don’t understand the question, but these platform doesn’t give access to regulated stock exchange market(for ex CME). FX/IR, swaps, NDFs, FRAs and other derivatives, it’s OTC market. So dealing with these platforms you deal with specific counterparty. And to deal with counterparty you have to have an agreement between banks(ISDA) and have limit for the counterparty, approved by risk department. For example our risk department has closed limit for Dexia last week.

    Reuters dealing. For me it’s most comfortable.
    EBS.
    Bank’s platforms: (BARX, CITIFX….). We(European 1 tier CIB, i don’t wan’t to clarify name) additionaly use UBS & Morgan Stanley platforms and of course each bank has its own trading platform.
