A Guide To Stocks Investment

There are two major types of investments done in the stock-trading arena these days –short-term investments and long-term investments. If you find yourself overwhelmed and confused in choosing which type would be best, simply take note of the differences between these two varieties and consider the advantages and disadvantages of each to be guided in making the right decisions.

Basically, the major difference between the two investments is the fact that short-term plans are actually designed to show a substantial yield in a short time period. While long-term investments, on the other hand, are designed to last for quite a few years and present a slow yet progressive increase in its yield.

Let us discover more about the differences when it comes to the disadvantages and advantages of each type of investment.

Short-Term Investments
The major advantages of investing for a short-term plan are the potentials for growth at a very fast period of time, ranging from a few weeks to a few months. Although there may be fluctuating trends that could affect the market, short-term loans can still allow you more control over your money and you it is more likely that you can keep a more watchful eye on your investment.

However, this type of investment may be a bit riskier due to the fluctuations present in such a volatile stock market, as mentioned above. As compared to its long-term counterpart, this type of investment may much easily be affected by unpredictable circumstances because it is in a shorter period of time. And so, even if there is a very huge chance that you can make a lot of money in this type of investment, there are also great chances that you can lose a lot.

Long-Term Investments
For long-term investment plans on the other hand, there is a greater ability for this type of investment to gain small and distributed profits over a longer time frame. And because it has a slow-but-steady pace, it becomes more stable and involves fewer risks.

But of course, a disadvantage for the slow growth of your investments may indicate that you cannot expect to earn profit right away especially when you are badly in need of money. In addition, you may also have less control over your money because your investment would not mature right away.

Also take note that because investments may require a lot of fees to be paid as it progresses and due to occurring fluctuations in the market, most long-term investments may experience down time before they can actually climb up and become productive.

In choosing between these two major types of investments, the most important thing you have to consider in order to gauge which plan would become more beneficial to you is to contemplate on your reasons for investing.
If you invested in stocks with the ultimate goal to earn money fast then surely a short-term plan would suit you. But on the other hand, if you want to invest for future and insurance purposes like in cases wherein you want to have money when you grow old, then a long-term plan for investing is best.

Whatever your decision may be, always remember that there are advantages and disadvantage in all kinds of investments. And ultimately, to become successful in your endeavor, you must be willing to take on minimal risks and make smart decisions in order to manage your trades.

In the stock trading industry, many people have garnered a lot of money from futures markets. It is only in this arena where people who have limited capitals can actually make substantial profits even in a short period of time. But because like any other market, this involves a lot of risks and may cost you significant losses, people may often fear to get involved.

Despite its bad reputation however, many experts would claim that futures trading could only be as risky as you want to make it. And if you take on good strategies and give yourself the proper exposure, then this can make you very rich.

What Are Futures?

Futures are standardized and transferable contracts that require a buyer to purchase a stock at a specific sum and within a certain time period in the future. This contract gives the buyer the obligation of purchase, and the seller the obligation to deliver the specific asset traded. Unlike options, futures contracts obligate the traders to buy and sell instead of just merely giving them the right. People basically profit from futures by performing speculations in order to provide liquidity and to assume risks for price fluctuations in the market. These valuable functions provide them with substantial returns and potentially large gains. But take note that along with these, substantial risks are involved as well.

How And Why Are Futures Traded?

Trading futures has become quite popular in many markets, especially in day trading. These kinds of trades offer a wide variety of markets and it can be traded at a low cost. Futures can be traded in both up and down markets. If a particular trader expects the market to go up, a long trade is usually done wherein the trader buys a contract and then sells it. On the contrary, if a trader believes that the market will go down, and then he will most probably make a short trade by entering a trade through selling a contract and then exiting by buying another contract. With this system, traders are able to profit regardless of what direction the market trends are going.

This is the main reason why most traders are only concerned if the market is moving at all, instead of which direction it is actually going. In futures trading, instead of taking or making deliveries, a trader merely speculates his position in the market’s volatility by predicting directions of trends. If prices move in the right direction, then the trader would be able to profit. If this does not happen, then a trader would experience some losses. This particular arena in trading can be very promising, but it involves so many risks as well. But if you are well experienced in trading stocks and have adopted quite an understanding in the different trends, behaviors and strategies that the industry has to offer, then chances are, you may probably do well in this particular playing field.

All of this may sound pretty easy at the moment, but if you are planning to engage in futures trading, make sure that you do your research and prepare yourself with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully execute transactions. Along with huge profits possible, there are a lot of risks involved and trading futures without the right background can be very detrimental.

How the stock market works.

The stock market is driven by supply and demand. The number of shares of stock dictates the supply and the number of shares that investors want to buy dictates the demand.  It’s important to understand the for every share that is purchased, there is someone on the other end selling that share (or vice versa).  The stock market is really just a big, automated superstore where everyone goes to buy and sell their stock.  The main players in the stock market are the exchanges.  Exchanges are where the sellers are matched with buyers to both facilitate trading and to help set the price of the shares.  The primary exchanges are the Nasdaq, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), all of the ECNs (electronic communication networks) and a few other regional exchanges like the American Stock Exchange and the Pacific Stock Exchange.  Years ago, all of the trading was done through the traditional exchanges (like the NYSE, American and Pacific Exchanges) but now almost all of the trading is done through the Nasdaq, which uses ECNs and thousands of other firms with access to the Nasdaq to facilitate trading.

Here’s an example of one of the many ways that the stock market works:

You open an account with a online brokerage firm.  You send the firm a check for $1,000.  The firm deposits the check into a trading account that is listed under your name.  You log onto your online account and place an order to buy 100 shares of a stock in Company A, which is currently trading at $5.  The firm uses it’s network to tell the Nasdaq and all of it’s related networks that there is demand for 100 shares of Company A’s stock.  The Nasdaq finds someone who is willing to sell 100 shares of Company A and, instantaneously, they execute the trading of stock between you and the person selling the shares.  The trade information is sent to a clearinghouse where the information is processed and the shares will now be registered to you.  Basically, the clearinghouse will designate 100 shares of Company A to the firm and they will designate those 100 shares as yours.  The actual stock certificates are typically held “in street name” and never really need to exchange hands (although you could request that the stock certificates be transferred to your name).

In a nutshell, that’s how the stock market works.  The stock market is really just like any other marketplace – it facilitates the exchange of goods between interested parties and works to reduce distribution costs and set prices.

 How stocks are valued.

Stocks have two types of valuations.  One is a value created using some type of cash flow, sales or fundamental earnings analysis. The other value is dictated by how much an investor is willing to pay for a particular share of stock and by how much other investors are willing to sell a stock for (in other words, by supply and demand). Both of these values change over time as investors change the way they analyze stocks and as they become more or less confident in the future of stocks.  Let me discuss both types of valuations.

First, the fundamental valuation.  This is the valuation that people use to justify stock prices.  The most common example of this type of valuation methodology is P/E ratio, which stands for Price to Earnings Ratio.  This form of valuation is based on historic ratios and statistics and aims to assign value to a stock based on measurable attributes.  This form of valuation is typically what drives long-term stock prices.

The other way stocks are valued is based on supply and demand.  The more people that want to buy the stock, the higher its price will be.  And conversely, the more people that want to sell the stock, the lower the price will be.  This form of valuation is very hard to understand or predict, and is often drives the short-term stock market trends.

Why the stock market is a good investment (in the long term).

It’s all about risk and return, and because your money is at more risk in the stock market than if you park it in a savings or CD (by the way, the money you invest in a CD is probably reinvested by the company offering the CD), the potential return is higher. It’s true that the gyrations in the stock market can cause both large losses and large gains, but if your investment time horizon is long enough, these short-term fluctuations will result in relatively high returns. It is generally accepted, that the average long term return from investing in stocks is 10-12%. This is much higher than the average CD or savings rate of 4-6%.

Why the stock market gets out of whack with reality.

Over the long term, the stock market is driven by underlying economic, financial and global growth. But in the short run, the market is driven by simple greed and fear, which are dictated by human emotions.  During periods of prosperity, the stock market often rises faster than underlying earnings.  During tough economic times, political uncertainty, and low consumer confidence, the stock market often performs worse than the underlying fundamentals predict.

Recommend ways to invest in the stock market.

Don’t try to time the market.  As tempting as it is to try, it is not possible to time the stock market.  People have written millions of pages of research on this topic and NO ONE has ever found a legitimate way to determine its trends.
Use cost averaging.  By buying stocks on a periodic basis (like once a paycheck, once a month or even once a year), you will always be buying at an average price.  If you try to time the market, you may be buying at a high or low valuation.
Take taxes into account.  When you buy stocks, try to hold them for more than one year so you get taxed at the long term capital gains rate, which is currently 18%.  If you sell your stock before one year, you will be taxed at your ordinary income tax rate, which is almost always higher than 18%, sometimes twice as high.
Invest as much as possible into tax-sheltered 401K, 403B and IRAs.  By investing in tax deferred plans, you are able to invest money and not worry about the tax implications.  With 401K and 403B plans, you get to invest your earnings before taxes, so the investment will grow on a higher base.  For example, if you received a paycheck for $2,000 gross pay and taxes were taken out, you’d be left with only $1,200 or so to invest.  The investment return on $1,200 could be substantial, but if you could invest that same $2,000 in a tax deferred account, you would be investing and earning a return on $2,000 instead of $1,200.  Also, many employers offer matching investments that could make that $2,000 investment equivalent to a $4,000 investment.  Put as much as you can into these tax deferred investments.
Diversify your investments.   Don’t just invest in stocks.  It is better if you diversify your investments into other asset classes including real estate (a house), cash (savings account or CD) and maybe even bonds.  That way, if one asset class really underperforms, you will have some exposure to the better performing assets.
Diversify your stocks (mutual funds).  When investing in the stock market, don’t load up on just one or two stocks.  Diversify your investments across many stocks. If your portfolio is not large enough to buy 15 or more different stocks, you should consider purchasing one or more mutual funds to ensure diversification.

Your Quick Guide to the Investment Club

Investing in the stock market can be a daunting prospect for someone that has never invested before, especially if you are going into it alone. Although it is relatively simple to pick up information about the stock market, learning via the hands on approach of investing with friends that know a little about it is preferable. This is where the investment club can become useful for people all over the United States, or even people throughout the world.

An investment club is literally a group of like-minded people that agree to regularly meet in order to invest money in the stock market or another form of investment together. All members of the club routinely invest an agreed amount of money every month, which could be as little as $10 or as much as is affordable for every individual within the club.

The investment club has been a part of American financial culture since the 1800s and has since become a popular concept in a huge number of countries. There is a variety of reasons for that but the primary one is the fact that such clubs can help people to profit through economically difficult times as well as the good years, especially if sensible investment practices are employed. The fact that there is no minimum amount to invest as there would be if you headed to a bank or similar institution is also a major benefit of the investment club.

No matter why you choose to form or join an investment club, you will have a lot of decisions to make regarding the set up, investment choices and roles individuals will play within your club. For example, you will have to discuss how you will decide which investments to make and who has the final say. This should always be the most knowledgeable of members and the one that will adhere to the democracy of the group. You will also have to decide whether to run your investment club online or via a broker. Either way, the members will have to keep in contact to make decisions and the way the club will be run must be decided before you begin investing.

The money made through your investment club is split equally between all members so it could provide a nice little income for you in the coming years. All you have to do is find out a little about investment club rules, taxes and similar elements and you can start investing in your future with your friends and family.

Why You Should Have an Ergonomic Posture Chair

With so much of our lives centered around computers, both at home and at work, we spend a lot of time each day sitting down, which can really take a toll on our back and legs, if we sit in a bad position, or in an unsupportive chair. Even if you routinely practice good posture while sitting, that usually isn’t enough to prevent pain and injury, especially if you sit for long periods of time everyday.

Selecting a Real Estate Investing Guide

Many people have the desire to invest in real estate as it can be a very lucrative venture but in order to be successful you should seek the help of a real estate investing guide. Successfully investing in real estate can build your credit rating, create cash flow, and eventually net you a lot of money. But the world of real estate investing is not one that should be entered into lightly as it takes a lot of knowledge to be able to profit from real estate investing. A good real estate investing guide will help you to succeed in your real estate investing ventures. Many people who jump in to the world of real estate investing end up failing, incurring debt, and ruining their credit, all because they did not arm themselves with the proper knowledge before they started. A real estate investing guide is a great way to learn about the business before you dive and will increase your chances of success.

There are many real estate investing guides available on the market today, and you can benefit from the knowledge and advice contained in most of them. A good real estate investing guide will include the risks and benefits of real estate investing and will give you information on how to minimize the risks increase your chances for success. A real estate investing guide that does not realistically portray the amount of time and work involved in real estate investing is probably not the best choice as the world of real estate can be extremely rewarding but not without a lot of work. The real estate investing guide you choose should also give you a good idea of what to expect throughout the process and what type of loss or gain you can expect from various situations.

You should also look for a real estate investing guide that is tailored to your individual investing needs. Simply buying your first home is an investment, and reading a real estate investment guide that is designed for homebuyers looking to purchase a primary residence will help you to select a home that will build you the most equity. It is easy to learn the basics of home buying from a real estate investing guide and you will gain the knowledge you need to build your credit and maximize the equity in your new home if you read one prior to buying.

There are also many other types of real estate investments, and all have unique risks and benefits and should be approached differently. It is important to pick a real estate investing guide that is written with your unique needs in mind so that you can learn about the specific investment type you are interested in. Flipping real estate is much different than investing in a duplex or apartment building, and buying land or an empty lot is different still. After you have decided which investment type you are looking to explore, you should then pick a real estate investing guide that will teach you about your specific type of investment. A good real estate investing guide will help you to understand everything you need to know about purchasing properties, working with tenants, making improvements and renovations, and determining the value of the property as well as estimating its future value.

Beginner’s Guide to Silver Investing – 7 Tips to Help You Make More Money with Silver Right Away

Recently, I met the owner of a well-known precious metals web site and I popped this question to him: “What do you think about investing in silver?”

His reply was both profound and accurate. “David,” he said, “The smart money is moving into gold, but the SMARTEST money is moving into silver!”

Investing in silver is a great way to make money, especially if you are looking to secure your future or your retirement. But of course, just like any type of investing, there are no guarantees. You need to know what you are doing and what the silver market is all about before you can get too involved. This is the only way to make sure that you give yourself every possible advantage to benefit from silver investing.

That’s the ONE and ONLY reason that I am here today. I want to share with you some tips that will give you direction when you start investing in silver so you can make the most money possible.

7 Getting Started in Silver Investing Tips That Will Make You More Money

1. Take a close look at the market before you decide that silver investing is right for you. Investing is silver is different than investing in stocks and bonds.

2. Educate yourself. If you are not sure how investing in silver works, touch base with a professional who can help you with the buying and selling process.

3. Complete effective online research. Be careful of the information you find. There’s so much information online about silver investing, but a lot of it is misinformation. You want to learn from experts who are in the trenches tracking the silver market and making investments every day. For example, the information that you will find on http://www.silver-investor.com is based on my experiences and knowledge from following the silver market daily for more than thirty years.

4. Get familiar with the many different ways that you can invest in silver. You can invest in silver mining companies, silver ETFs, silver futures, silver bullion and silver coins. The sure-fire way to invest in silver without the worry is to invest in bullion or coins. This is the place to start– real metal for your future. You don’t have to pay for a mining company’s energy costs. And you don’t have to buy 1000 to 5000 ounces in a futures contract that carries too much risk for a beginning silver investor.

5. If you are looking to invest in silver coins and silver bars then you need to know this trick — Find sellers who are actually selling as near the spot price of silver as possible (spot plus a reasonable fee). A general rule is that the more silver you are buying the less percentage of fees you should be expected to pay. When buying coins to invest in their silver content be certain you are not buying coins for their numismatic value (the value to a collector of rare coins).

6. Before you invest in silver, make sure you calculate how much you can invest between your IRA rollover funds, cash on hand and other assets that you wish to turn into silver. Be sure to keep your emergency fund mostly in cash for unforeseen expenses. You don’t want to bite off (invest) more than you can chew (afford).

7. Stay on top of the market. There are times to buy. And, there are times to sell. Yes, at some point, it may be better to sell some or perhaps even all of your silver holdings for currency, depending on the bull market and your personal investment goals. But the only way you know when to buy or sell is if you have current silver market investing information at your fingertips.

Here’s a Bonus Silver Investing Tip For You…

Get started now. The time to invest in silver is today!

My Guide to Stock Investing

This is a good exercise in building wealth in the unstable world of stock investing. It’s throwing in the towel, and you don’t want to get involved with stock investing with companies that have that attitude. Online stock investing can be a great way for anyone to get involved in the market.

Contrary to the short term perspective of most investors today, all the big money is made by catching large market moves – not by day trading or short term stock investing. Fraudsters don’t think twice before developing stock investing, commodity or option trading courses to make a little extra money for themselves regardless of whether or not what they teach helps their students. If penny stock investing is a junior level course then day trading is a senior level course that most seniors will fail.

We are looking for titbits of information, what we call the scuttlebutt method of stock investing. Now stock investing can be a crap shoot at best. In 1998 he was shouting out to the world to ‘get out’ of the stock market but now he is shouting to everyone that it is time to ‘get in’. The Wallet Doctor is not only sought after for investment advice and coaching in stock investing but also in futures trading and real estate investing.

They don’t know anything about stock investing and they often lose a few thousand dollars very quickly. The second richest man in the world, Warren Buffett, has made his millions from stock investing. This way of stock investing or trading is called the Darvas strategy.

In our investment work when we get involved in stock investing, we do hands on stock research. What any ‘vexed’ shareholders are forgetting and he is not, is that Rule 1 in stock investing is, Don’t lose money. As mentioned earlier, stock investing is not only knowing the companies but also knowing the timing of investment.

Since I am an advocate of stock investing, let me make the case for stock investing. Penny stock investing can be profitable. Also, online stock investing has opened the door wide for overseas stock trading, giving you more investment opportunities than ever.

Well, one of the oddities of stock investing is that stocks do not necessarily behave according to the company’s condition. The new book, ‘Sensible Stock Investing’, describes in detail the relatively simple techniques that the individual investor can use to sidestep large losses such as not using margin, not selling short, and controlling losses with sensible sell-stops. Penny stock investing is a junior level course at least.

Combined, the return on your investment here is massive compared to regular stock investing. I want to emphasize that CAPM is based on the notion that the stock market efficiently translates all information known about the stock market into stock prices for stock investing purposes. What do I need do stock investing.

Even the stock investing pro needs tips now and again and is on a path of continuous daily learning. Beyond that, however, online stock investing does have a lot of perks that make it accessible to virtually anyone. So if you are new to investing in the stock market take some time and learn how to by taking a stock investing course.

Nowadays, stock investing can already be done by the man on the street. Everyone from retirees to school children, have managed to get involved in online stock investing for a whole host of reasons.

The Vault Video Guide to Investment Banking Interviews

Here are some important tips on the kinds of questions that are asked in investment banking interviews.

A Guide to Bad Credit Finance Options

You shouldn’t worry too much about bad credit finance options, because there are several financing options available regardless of your credit history… some of them charge higher interest rates or require some additional security, but in the end may be just what you’re looking for.

Vehicle financing

If you’re looking for a bad credit finance for a new or used vehicle, your best option is most likely going to be to visit a finance company as opposed to a traditional bank.

Some finance companies are more likely to offer bad credit finance options for vehicles than others, and the financing will usually depend upon the type of vehicle being financed, where the vehicle is being purchased from, and what sort of insurance and driving record you have.

Other factors that will be taken into consideration include your annual and monthly income, any cosigners that you might have for the loan, and any recommendations or referrals that you might have.

Home financing

Finding someone to offer you a bad credit finance for a house or other real estate can sometimes be tricky, but generally real estate shouldn’t be too difficult to finance.

Major factors in getting a mortgage lender to approve you for bad credit finance options include your income, any insurance that you will purchase for the house or real estate, the amount of a down payment that you’re willing to offer, and any references of former landlords that you can offer.

Mortgage lenders for bad credit finance loans can be found online, at finance companies, and at some real estate and property management services.

Other financing

Should you be seeking bad credit finance options for other items (such as collectibles or electronics), you might find your search to be a little more difficult.
